I'm presently comparing JD and Kubota models and got a price from local JD dealer of $17,000 OTD for a 4200 with loader. The 4300 would be about $18,500 OTD. Good luck ....

Glenn,I would be interested in which way you are leaning, the JD or Kobota. Which Kobota are you comparing to the JD 4200. It seems the price I was quoted by the JD dealer ($18000, with the options) is within few hundred dollars of your quote.I'm just not sure the JD4200 had the rotary mower capacity I'm looking for. It seems that the JD information I have only recommends using a "light" duty model JD413 or JD513 rotary mower. I will be running into saplings and there are too many to cut with a chainsaw! ....

Bill,I use a 516 medium duty cutter w/ my 4200. Just yesterday I was riding down and cutting 3-4" stuff. Cuts 2' tall heavy grass fine also. I know the "books" call for only a 413 or 513, but it will handle a 516 fine. The 516 is heavier though, so 6 of the 40lb weights on the front or the loader is a good idea.Chris ....

I'm looking at the JD 4200 and Kubota B21 or B2710. I'm not sure if I really need a backhoe or not. If I go with a backhoe, I'll probably forget about the B2710 because it's a 3 point hitch setup. From what I understand, the B21 or L35 is the way to go with a backhoe. I'm fortunate that the local rental yards around here rent all of the tractors I'm thinking of buying. I'm going to rent the B21 next week to start my fire cleanup (I'm not sure if you heard about the big fire we had go through here two weeks ago, it made national news. The house was saved, but I have 13 acres of property to clean up). I've rented an L35, which I really got spoiled on because I like it so much, but its beyond my budget and what I really need for most of my chores. I also rented the JD4100 and really liked it, but just a little under-powered for what I need. To answer your question, I'm leaning towards the Kubota, however, I think its like "Ford or Chevy", its whatever your personal likes or experiences have been which will make you decide. I have friends that have both JD and Kubota, all are very happy. Good luck shopping. ....

You should be able to do about $1,500 better. I paid about $16,000 for all you have except rear blade plus I bought foldable ROPS and box blade. ....
